Treccia Cheese is a braided version of mozzarella or scamorza cheese.

It is pale yellow, and soft and stringy.

Generally, the cheese is made of cow's milk. Treccione di Bufala indicates a big version of the cheese, and that the cheese was made from buffalo milk.

The cheese can weigh up to 2 1/4 pounds (1 kg) or more.

There are also smoked versions of Treccia Cheese, that have a mild smoky taste.
