Tennessee Sweet Potato Squash has a long neck, makes it look more like a gourd or overgrown pear.

The rind is pale green with stripes, or creamy white with pale green stripes. Inside, it has finely-textured, dry but sweet flesh, with a taste somewhat like sweet potatoes.

The squash will weigh 10 to 20 pounds (4 1/2 to 9 kg.)

The plant prospers in cool weather.

95 days from seed.

Cooking Tips
Good for pies.

Storage
Stores well, up to 6 months.

History
Tennessee Sweet Potato Squash is possibly the same squash as that which was listed in 1847 by Grant Thorburn (seed merchant in New York), as "Green Striped Bell."

The "Tennesse Sweet Potato" name seems to have appeared in 1883, and been coined by W. Atlee Burpee Company.

Also called: Tennessee Sweet Potato Pumpkin
