From April to August, New Zealand & Australia ship Royal Gala apples to North America.

History Notes for Royal Gala Apples

Developed in New Zealand from a cross between Kidds Orange Red and Golden Delicious. Introduced in New Zealand in 1960. Introduced to North America in the early 1970s. Named to honour the Queen (Elizabeth II) during a visit by her to New Zealand.
