Moth Beans grow on a trailing plant that grows low to the ground, and forms a mat.
The trailing stems will be up to 2 feet (60 cm) long, with stiff hairs on them.
The plant stands up well to drought, thrives in hot weather and is very competitive against weeds.
It produces rounded pods 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm) long, and 1/2 inch (1 cm) wide. There will be 4 to 9 small beans per pod.
When very young, the pods are eaten whole.
Use dried Moth Beans as you would lentils.
