Lumina Pumpkins
© Copyright 2010. Do not copy. All rights reserved and enforced.Lumina Pumpkins are flattened somewhat in shape, with a smooth rind that can be anywhere in colour from a pale golden to white tinged with blue to very white. A blue tinge is more likely to show up in cool, damp weather.
They have only slight ribbing.
They are about the size of an American basketball, 8 to 10 inches wide (20 to 25 cm), and weigh 18 to 20 pounds (8 ¼ to 9 kg.)
Inside, they have stringy yellow flesh. Some people say the flavour is delicious and use these as pie pumpkins; others say the flavour is weak and not worth bothering with, that these should be treated as ornamental pumpkins.
80 to 90 days from seed.
Protected Variety Plant.
Does not store well, though it will last for several weeks as a carved Jack-O-Lantern. Lumina Pumpkins were developed jointly by the Hollar Seed Company and the George Perry & Sons Company.
Released 1990.
