Haw Flakes are basically fruit leather that is cut in disc shapes about the size of a 25 cent coin in the States or Canada, or a 2 p piece in the UK.
The discs are made as a treat for children that is not overly sweet.
They are made from hawthorne berries, sugar, water and Red Dye No. 40.
Very inexpensive, they are sold in packaging that ranges from foil to clear plastic to paper cylinders.
The flakes are very soft, slightly granular and flaky, and dry, not gummy. But as you start to chew one, it gets very gummy and will stick to your teeth.
The flakes are also sold in rectangular slabs.
