Garnet Applecrabs

Garnet Applecrabs are 1 1/2 inches (4 cm) wide, and somewhat bell-shaped with ribbing. They have light green skin almost entirely covered with dark red.

Inside, the apples have yellow, crisp flesh with a sweet but astringent taste. Some people detect a trace of nuts in the taste.

Garnet Applecrabs ripen in late October.

Cooking Tips
Good for canning and jelly, also okay for juicing.

Some like it for fresh-eating.

Storage
Store for up to 12 weeks.

History
Garnet Applecrabs were developed by a WJ Boughen at Valley River, Manitoba, Canada from a Yellow Siberian Crab tree. Introduced 1930.
