 | This is a fabulous salad to serve to play with people's minds: your friends won't know if it's a dessert or a salad. With the combination of sweet, sour and salty tastes, it's very much along the lines of Medieval or Roman food.
It's probably only worth making this when strawberries are in season.
In place of basil leaves, you can use mint leaves.
Because this is such an eccentric salad, it's worth doing it right and using real black olives, not the tinned ones.
