Kosher Rye Bread

Estimated Prep Time: 20 minutes
Estimated Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Optional:
1 tbsp caraway seeds
4 tablespoons chopped uncooked onion

Optional: some say spritzing the walls of the oven twice with water before putting bread in will produce a more crusty loaf.


Ingredients

1 1/8 cup Water
1 1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
3/4 cup Whole Wheat Flour
1 cup Rye Flour
1 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
2 teaspoons Yeast





Directions


Cooking at: 450 F / 230 C / Gas Mark 8

Place all ingredients in machine in order listed above. Start dough cycle only.

When dough cycle has finished, remove dough and punch down. Place covered either in oiled bread pan or cooking surface, and let rise for about an hour.

Bake in regular oven at 450 F / 225 C for 15 minutes, then lower temperature to 350 F / 175 C and cook for another 30 minutes.
