All rights reserved and enforced![]() Australian Natural Lake Salt Australian Natural Lake Salt is harvested from Lake Deborah in Western Australia. It has a mild, not harsh, salt taste. Salt has formed a crust on the surface of the bottoms of the dry lakes in the area. During rainy season, the lakes fill up with water, dissolves some of the crust. In the summer, the rain water evaporates, leaving behind the dissolved salt to be harvested. It is machine graders, and left in rows. Harvesting trucks scoop it up, and take it to outdoor stockpiles at Koolyanobbing. It is then washed to remain any debris, dried, packaged and sent to market. The salt is sold either coarse (irregularly shaped crystals) or ground finely. Package sizes are 250g boxes for consumers, and 500g pouches for food professionals. The salt is harvested by WA Salt Supply, but sold under other labels.
