Alpine Strawberries don't produce runners or reproduce by them as do other strawberry varieties. Instead, they actually reproduce via their seeds, and they will grow true to seed.

The plant bears fruit continuously through the summer. The berrries can be red, cream coloured or yellow.

The berries are small, and somewhat pointed at the end.

The taste is sweet, with a tang to it.

History

a variety of Wood Strawberry that occured naturally
was found in the 1700s near Grenoble, France, at the foot of the alps, near Swiss and Italian borders (though some say it was mentioned in writings as early as the 1400s)
