Agrumato Oils
© Copyright 2010. Do not copy. All rights reserved and enforced.A type of olive oil made in Abruzzo on the Costa dei Trabocchi, on the Adriatic Sea. The olives are crushed along with whole citrus fruits.
The basic varieties are lemon, orange and tangerine, but you can buy sub-varieties of each flavoured with different herbs as well.

- Agrumato Mandarino: Tangerine (Tangerines are mandarin oranges)
There are several different brands and makers. The makers are all represented by a Syndicate. The makers try to get lemons and oranges grown in the region, if not in Italy, but it is becoming an increasing problem to meet the demand from the Italian supply of citrus fruit (2004.)
The oil is used for special occasions. It is sold in very small bottles of 200ml (6 1/2 oz / 3/4 cup), but that will last you a good while as it is meant to be used as a "finishing" oil to garnish dishes with.
Imitations of Agrumato Oils add citrus flavouring to the olive oil after it is pressed.
Agrumato comes from "agrume", which in Italian means "citrus".
